Tech hub coming to Jackson, Mississippi thanks to Dr. Nashlie Sephus
San Francisco and Austin are known as the cities that are home to tech companies in the country, but a new tech hub is coming to Jackson, Mississippi, thanks to a Black scientist, Dr. Nashlie Sephus. The Amazon Tech Evangelist purchased 12 acres of land near the campus of Jackson State University to create a new hub for the community. Sephus said she sees a different vision for Mississippi where Jackson has little Black ownership in the downtown district. The $25 million project will be used to maintain the culture of the city. It will feature coworking areas, housing, residential lofts, restaurants, and venue space for residents.
